Mountain House
Why I work with them:
Because Mountain House is a homegrown Oregon brand. Because their freeze-dried meals encourage people to explore the outdoors beyond a quick hike. Because having some just-add-water meals and gallons of water in my garage makes me feel a bit more prepared for “just in case” scenarios, and let’s face it, there are a lot of them looming. I strive to reduce the amount of waste I create, and single-use packaging is certainly contrary to my efforts toward a zero waste lifestyle. But frankly, I don’t have the time or resources to freeze dry my own food. I do use Mountain House meals when I go backpacking. And I do have them on hand for “just in case”. And the company is continually looking at ways to innovate to incorporate organic, non-gmo ingredients, and to explore more efficient packaging, effectively reducing waste. For these reasons alone, theirs is a story I believe in.
What I do for them:
I manage Mountain House’s online communications strategy, including social media management, content, and community management, Facebook and Instagram advertising, email marketing campaigns, brand partnerships and influencer collaborations, and managing the brand ambassador program.
